Describe yourself in 3 words:
Edgily empathic life-lover
Can you tell us a little bit about your playlist?
It’s comprised of female singers/musicians who inspire me because they are also edgy, and willing to walk an unfamiliar line. They are genuinely themselves in their approach to music making. It makes me feel alive and authentic when listening to their music.
How does the animal kingdom manifest in your work, and why?
We ARE the animal kingdom, we are inextricably connected, we are one and the same. This is knowledge I was given at a very young age, and since then, have carried this beautiful understanding every step of the way. I feel it is my duty to remind our fellow humans of this deep primal truth so that we can protect this “kingdom” and thus protect ourselves. It shows up in my work because I do believe it is the most important subject in order to (try) to save our species, our planet, and our surrounding animal friends from total destruction.
What do you think it means to be an “activist”?
It means being willing to show up regardless of discomfort or convenience to make positive social change in the world.
(Why) is imagery important to you?
I can’t say why, only that this is the way I see the world. This is the way my brain works. I have no idea where the images come from—but if I see something in my mind, I know I will want to bring the vision to life. I think that that’s probably what being an artist is...
What advice do you have for other artists?
Do it because you love it. There is literally no other reason to do a thing like make art.
What’s your favorite thing about yourself today?
I love this question, thank you. I’m willing to show up today and find a new way to be the best version of myself despite my personal obstacles. I am willing to push forward and find my inner strength.
Who’s one artist on your playlist we need to start following immediately, and why?
Suzanne Sundfor. She’s just lovely.
